PremieR Clinical Nutrition (PremieR Clinical Nutrition)- Urinary Struvite for Cats is an auxiliary food in the Super Premium category, which helps in the treatment of struvite urinary calculi.
Some alterations in food can be beneficial to patients with urinary calculi.
The objective of the diet is to control the urinary pH, reduce ingestion and urinary excretion of substances which form calculi, and helps in the dissolution of existing calculi.
This food must be used on its own, in general, for the period of 4 to 5 weeks, depending on the animal, always under a professional’s supervision.
Excess of reduced bases: This nutritional strategy is used to dissolve the struvite urinary calculi.
Controlled urinary pH: Promotes a moderated acidification of urine (pH 6.2) to help dissolve existing struvite urinary calculi, without promoting the formation of calcium oxalate urinary calculi.
Lower levels of magnesium: -
To lower the availability and consequential ingestion of this mineral, reducing the formation of struvite calculi.
Balanced Protein: -
Discourages the formation of struvite urinary calculi because it reduces the amount of urinary ammonia , which is the main structural component of this calculus.
