PremieR Nutrição Clínica (PremieR Clinical Nutrition) Cardio – for Dogs is an auxiliary food in the treatment of a heart condition/failure for dogs.
In addition to the treatment prescribed by the veterinarian, a specially-formulated food can be beneficial to patients with a heart condition.
The objectives of the diet are: provide an adequate amount of calories, avoid deficiencies and nutritional excesses, offer potential benefits of specific nutrients, reduce the doses and amount of medication that the animal needs, reduce complications, improve quality of life and slow the progression of the disease.
For heart disease, this food should be used under professional supervision as the animal’s sole food in life.
High levels of EPA + DHA: Prevent the loss of lean mass and help in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia.
Moderate Phosphorous: Care with the renal function, since renal disease may be associated with cardiac disease.
Elevated levels of taurine and L-carnitine: Help in contractions and in the energetic myocardiac metabolism.
Controlled sodium: Helps in the reduction of preload and in the control of the accumulation of fluids.
