PremieR Nutrição Clínica (PremieR Clinical Nutrition) Renal – for Dogs is a food which helps in the treatment of chronic renal disease and in the reduction of incidence of oxalate calcium renal calculi in nephropathic patients.
In addition to the treatment prescribed by the veterinarian, some food alterations may be beneficial to patients with chronic renal disease.
The objectives of the diet are: to minimize the symptoms resulting from the retention of toxic substances and the loss of important elements in urine, reduce the progression of the disease, protect the renal tissue which is still healthy, prevent the formation of oxalate calcium renal calculi.
In the case of chronic renal disease, this food should be used under professional supervision during the extent of the animal’s life.
Lower level of phosphorous: Lower levels of phosphorous reduce the progression of renal disease and hyperphosphatemia, which is commonly associated to it.
Reduced protein: The reduced levels of protein maintain the nitrogenated balance, without increasing uremia in dogs with chronic nephropathy.
EPA + DHA: The essential fatty acids of the Omega 3 (EPA + DHA) family play a renal protective role because they help to improve renal infusion and the reduction of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, thereby reducing the progression of renal disease.
Moderate base excess: Prevents excessive acidity in the blood and the formation of oxalate calcium renal calculi.
